PAX East Orphans
All your friends going to PAX East in 2010 while you’re stuck at home? Perhaps you’d be interested in coming to a get together on the West coast that same weekend. Please vote in the poll to indicate your interest, and please comment if you have any suggestions for locations, if you’re willing to open your home to accommodate traveling PAX East orphans, or if you have any comments.

Looks like there’s gonna be enough interest for us to actually hold this little shindig. I think that now is as good a time as any to try to pin down where exactly this is gonna be held. The two front runners for location seem to be Vancouver and Seattle, but if you have a killer idea for somewhere else, don’t hesitate to voice your opinion.

Location would probably have to be Seattle or Vancouver. I”m down with either.

I think it depends on how many people are on this side of the borderline. I have no passport, lol.

It would be good to figure out which one it is sooner rather than later, so that people can get their passports squared away.

Hmm, well if we have to end up renting a venue rather than just in someones house, which place would be cheaper?

Haha, if it stays around 7 people you guys could just come to Batloft. :p

I personally would prefere Vancouver, since I have friends there and would not have to pay for a hotel.

I’d just beg for a couch to sleep on if it were in Seattle

I have no passport either so my vote is Seattle, but I too would have to couchsurf

If we’re looking at renting somewhere to party down, I know a great little venue in New Westminster:
http://www.rent-a-restaurant.com/
It’s part of the Arundel Mansion complex. It’s a little restaurant space that you can rent, it’s quite nice. Seats about 20 at a time, I think. You have to cater everything yourself, of course, but I think they do the finer cleaning up.
Price for a Friday, Saturday or Sunday is $300 for the day. Yes, it’s steep, but it’s an option. Split between 20 people is $15, plus food and drink.

Oh also, if instead people want to meet halfway between Vancouver and Seattle, I think the obvious choice is Victoria. Seattle has a direct ferry and Vancouver has a direct ferry + bus, both for around $30 I think.

I don’t have a passport, ditto on couch surfing.
