This game is actually really awesome. If you guys want, it’s very simple and quick to learn and id be happy to give you guys some cards and quick lessons. On an interesting side note, totally found this website trying to google search and figure out a name for the game. Also, if you haven’t figured it out, this is the same Rockman53 from twitter. That’s a very excellent observation. Google’s Andy Rubin said something very similar when he showed off the next Android incarnation on their “flagship” tablet device -

He talks about giving tools to developers to instruct the app how to handle “panels” of information on the many different-sized devices. He shows how Gmail on a tablet/TV has two panels, a list and a reading panel, while the same app would just have one panel that slides back and forth as needed.

To be perfectly honest, I kind of felt that about the books. I thought they were fun but I found a lot of it to just be…shallow. I have no doubts that I’ll enjoy the movie, but I imagine I’ll find it semi-entertaining for the cute references and neat graphics, rather than for the characters or plot.

Maybe I just don’t “get” Scott Pilgrim. I guess to explain it best: Scott Pilgrim to me is basically just casual gaming. It’s a couple hours of Bejeweled. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing I would get excited about.

You know, I’ve had Guns, Germs, and Steel for years by accident (was a gift for a friend and he never came to pick it up) and never actually read it (originally because it wasn’t mine, then later out of forgetfulness). I remember being very interested in it when we first picked it up, so I might have to check it out finally. I haven’t even heard of the other book, but this has me interested. I’ll start (eventually) with Guns, Germs, and Steel and try to remember to find a copy of the Years of Rice and Salt.

I’ll definitely have to pick these up at the library! By the way, you have convinced me that I need to save my money to get a Nook.

Have you ever read the Geodyssey series by Piers Anthony? They use the same literary device as The Years of Rice and Salt where it follows the same characters/spirits through time. The focus of the books is on theories of evolution and human development. I thought they were pretty interesting.

I’ve read Guns, Germs, and Steel before, but not the other book. Based on this recommendation, I’ll check it out if I get the chance. (If I end up moving to Seattle, I might ask to borrow your copy.) I’m attracted to the theme in both that we’re all just folk, but all our stories can still be damn interesting.
